CELER Merchants vs Stax

CELER Merchants is an independent merchant services agent, not a processor: we make the providers we work with compete for your account, and the service costs you $0. Stax is a payment provider with subscription pricing. As published on 18 Oct 2026, Stax charges from $99 a month, passes interchange through with 0% markup, and adds 8¢ per in-person transaction and 15¢ per keyed or online transaction.

What Stax is

Stax sells payment processing on a monthly subscription. The subscription depends on yearly processing volume: $99 a month up to $150,000 a year, $139 a month from $150,000 to $250,000, and $199 or more above $250,000. Interchange is passed through at cost with a per-transaction fee. Stax also offers built-in credit card surcharging; when a customer pays by debit, Stax lists the merchant fee as 1.25% + $0.25. What CELER Merchants is

We do not process payments and we do not hold your money. We read your statement, name every fee (usually within 4 hours), then take your profile to the providers we work with and show you every offer that comes back. You choose. The provider you choose pays us, so the service is free to you. Our pricing structures carry no statement fee, no PCI fee, no annual fee, no monthly minimum and no early-termination fee, and the CELER Rate Lock fixes the markup in writing.

Which fits you?

A subscription can make sense at steady, higher volume, because the fixed monthly fee is spread over more sales. At lower volume, the monthly fee weighs more on every sale. Compare your effective rate (total fees, including the subscription, divided by total card volume) with the offers you could get. We are happy to tell you when your current pricing is already good.
