La réponse courte
According to an October 2026 notice from processor Xplor Pay, Mastercard introduced an interregional interchange option for Business Standard Charge cards (product code DAL) aimed at small and medium enterprises. Xplor Pay lists the rate, IRD 61 Interregional Commercial Standard, at 2.00% plus $0.00 per transaction, as part of network changes it implements from October 24, 2026. If you accept business cards issued in other regions, ask your processor which rate those sales qualify for, whether you can see the interchange category on your statement, and whether your markup changes on cross-border sales.
What Xplor Pay reported
In its October 2026 association updates, Xplor Pay said Mastercard introduced an interregional interchange option for Business Standard Charge cards, product code DAL, targeting small and medium enterprises. It listed the rate as 2.00% + 0.00 for IRD 61: Interregional Commercial Standard. Xplor Pay said it implements the networks' changes effective October 24, 2026. This is one processor's summary of a network change; ask your own processor how it applies to your account.
What interregional means
Interregional transactions are those where the card was issued in one region of the world and the merchant is in another, for example a European company paying a US supplier with its business card. Card networks set separate interchange rates for these transactions, and they often differ from domestic rates. Interchange is paid to the issuing bank; your processor's markup is added on top.
Who this matters to
This matters most to businesses that sell to other businesses across borders: wholesalers, manufacturers, software and service firms, travel and logistics providers, and any supplier whose overseas customers pay by corporate or business card. If almost all your card sales come from local consumers, this change is unlikely to show up in any meaningful way on your statement.
Why your pricing model matters
On interchange-plus pricing, each transaction's interchange category is passed through, so a new interregional rate shows up clearly and your markup stays the same. On flat or tiered pricing, cross-border business cards are often grouped into a higher non-qualified or cross-border tier, and you may never see whether the underlying cost went up or down. That is the main reason B2B sellers with international customers often look at interchange-plus pricing.
Three questions for your processor
Which interchange rate do my cross-border business card sales qualify for, and how many of my transactions were in that category last month? Will I see the interchange category on my statement for each card type? Does your markup, or any cross-border or international fee you charge, change on these sales? Ask for the answers in writing, along with a statement that shows the categories.
What changes for mid-size and enterprise B2B sellers
Larger B2B sellers usually have more card types in the mix: commercial, corporate, purchasing and fleet cards, domestic and foreign. Review your interchange categories by region each quarter, not just your total. Check that the data you send with each sale is complete, since commercial card interchange can depend on it. Make sure your contract separates network cross-border fees from processor fees. And where large invoices are paid by card, compare the cost with bank transfer options for the customers who can use them.
