Clover POS pricing: what Clover publishes
Clover publishes package prices for retail and for restaurants, in two forms. It does not publish a card-processing rate. Here is what is on the page, how the pricing model works, and the questions that settle the rest.
What Clover publishes
On its retail systems pricing page, checked on 17 September 2026, Clover shows three packages, each priced two ways: a monthly figure spread over 36 months, or a device price paid up front plus a separate monthly software fee.
| Package | Over 36 months | Up front plus software |
|---|---|---|
| Basic (Starter software plan) | $16/month | $349 |
| Standard (Retail Growth plan) | $180/month | $1,899 + $84.95/month |
| Advanced (Retail Growth plan) | $240/month | $2,648 + $104.90/month |
| Package | Over 36 months | Up front plus software |
|---|---|---|
| Starter (Restaurant Growth plan) | $179/month | $1,799 + $89.95/month |
| Standard | $239/month | $2,548 + $109.90/month |
| Advanced | $354/month | $4,447 + $129.85/month |
Two further published details matter when modelling the cost. The entry-level Starter software plan is shown without an online store, gift cards, loyalty, promotions or shift management — those sit on the higher plans. And instant access to funds, marketed as rapid deposit, is charged at 1.75% of the amount transferred on every plan, which is a cost per use rather than a monthly one.
Clover's pages also state that the prices shown are for buying online. Buying the same hardware through a reseller or an agent is a different transaction, and can carry different pricing.
How the pricing model works
The headline monthly number is the part worth slowing down on. A package shown at $180 a month is a 36-month framing, so the comparable figure against a month-to-month competitor is the total across three years, not the monthly one. Choosing the up-front route instead separates the two costs: you own the device from day one, and the software fee continues monthly for as long as you use the system. Either way you are buying two things — hardware and a software subscription — and paying for a third, the card processing, on a rate that is not on the page.
What Clover does not publish
- Card-processing rates. Neither pricing page shows a percentage or per-transaction fee. On most accounts this is the largest recurring cost of the three.
- Contract length, renewal and notice. The 36-month framing is published; the terms governing it are not.
- Any early termination amount. Not published.
- Whether hardware bought through a reseller is financed separately. Not published; this depends on who sells it.
What to ask before signing
- The full processing rate in writing — percentage and per-item, for card-present, keyed and online, with the monthly fees listed separately.
- The term, how it renews, and the notice period to leave.
- The early termination amount as a number, not a formula in a clause you have not read.
- Whether the hardware is sold, rented, or financed under a separate agreement, and the name of that agreement.
- Whether the device can be moved to another processor later, and at what cost.
- How you export your product, customer and sales data if you leave.
How an independent agent's quote differs
This is a difference in structure, not a claim about price. A bundled quote gives you one number that contains the software, the hardware and the processing margin together. We place the merchant account with a processor and itemise the parts: interchange as published by the card networks, network assessments, and the markup shown separately, with the POS priced on its own. You can then compare a bundle against an itemised quote on the same twelve months of your own card volume. Sometimes the bundle wins. The point is that the comparison becomes possible.
If you want that done against your statements rather than against a brochure, the free statement analysis works through the last three months line by line.

Related questions
It depends which package and which purchase route. On Clover's own retail pricing page, checked on 17 September 2026, packages are shown either as a monthly figure over 36 months or as a device price plus a monthly software fee — for example $349 up front on the entry package, or $1,899 plus $84.95 a month on the middle one. Restaurant packages start higher.
Clover does not publish card-processing rates on its retail or restaurant pricing pages. The rate is quoted per account, and can differ depending on whether you buy online or through a reseller, so it has to be requested in writing.
The monthly figures on Clover's pricing pages are presented over 36 months. The cancellation terms, renewal mechanism and any early termination amount are not published on those pages and should be confirmed in the agreement you are asked to sign.
Clover is sold together with its processing, and its pricing pages state that the prices shown apply to buying online. Whether a particular Clover device can be placed on another processor depends on who sells it, so ask that question before ordering.
