Lightspeed POS pricing: what Lightspeed publishes

Lightspeed publishes retail plan prices and, more unusually, publishes the contract terms that govern them. Those terms are the most important thing on this page.

What Lightspeed publishes

Its US retail pricing page, checked on 17 September 2026, publishes three plans, each including one register.

Lightspeed retail plans, as published 2026-09-17
PlanMonthlyIncluded
Basic$89One register
Core$149One register
Plus$289One register

The same page shows a 1.5% card-present figure for Lightspeed Payments, states that annual billing saves up to 18% against monthly, and carries a note that prices can vary and that additional service fees may apply depending on the nature of the business and the industry. Extra locations and extra registers are available; their prices are not listed. Hardware prices are not published on that page.

The restaurant pricing page rendered in Canadian dollars from the connection used on the date checked, so its plan prices are not recorded here as United States prices.

The contract terms, which are the real story

Lightspeed's service agreement, read on 17 September 2026, publishes four things that most providers in this comparison leave to the order form:

  • Ninety days' notice is required not to renew. A notice period that long has to be diarised the moment you sign, because missing it renews the term.
  • Early termination is the remainder of the term, plus repayment of discounts already received. Annual billing discounts are therefore conditional in a way a monthly price is not.
  • Lightspeed Payments is mandatory in eligible jurisdictions.
  • An additional monthly fee applies where a third-party processor is used; the amount is not published.

None of that is unusual in enterprise software, and publishing it is a point in Lightspeed's favour rather than against it — a buyer can read the exit before signing the entrance. It does mean the annual discount and the three-month notice period should be modelled together, not separately.

What Lightspeed does not publish

  • US restaurant plan prices to a reader outside the United States — the page localises currency.
  • The amount of the third-party processor fee.
  • Prices for additional registers and additional locations.
  • Hardware prices on the retail pricing page.

What to settle before signing

  1. The total monthly cost at the number of registers and locations you will actually run, not the single-register headline.
  2. Whether you are billing monthly or annually, and what the annual discount is worth against the clawback clause if you leave early.
  3. The notice date, written into your calendar on day one.
  4. The processing rate in full, as a percentage and per item, by channel.
  5. If you want an outside processor, the monthly fee for doing so, in writing.

How an independent agent's quote differs

Where a POS requires its own payments product, the processing rate and the software decision are the same decision — you cannot change one later without changing the other. We place the merchant account with a processor separately from the POS and name every fee: interchange as the card networks publish it, network assessments, and the markup on its own line. That keeps the two decisions independent, so a rate that stops being competitive in year two can be renegotiated without replacing the tills. Whether that is worth more than the convenience of a single vendor is a judgement, and it depends on your volume.

Its service agreement, read on 17 September 2026, sets out 90 days' notice not to renew, and an early termination amount equal to the remainder of the term together with repayment of discounts already received. That is more detail than most providers in this comparison publish.

Its service agreement makes Lightspeed Payments mandatory in eligible jurisdictions, and provides for an additional monthly fee where a third-party processor is used. The amount of that fee is not published.

Because the restaurant pricing page rendered in Canadian dollars from the connection used on 17 September 2026. Publishing those figures as US prices would be wrong, so they are recorded as not verified for the United States on that date.
