SpotOn POS pricing: what SpotOn publishes
SpotOn publishes more of its numbers than most of this group — plans, card rates and hardware prices are all on the page. The part worth slowing down for is the contract, which two SpotOn pages describe differently.
The restaurant plans, as published
SpotOn's restaurant pricing page, checked on 17 September 2026, publishes three plans. Two carry a price and a rate; the third is quoted.
| Plan | Monthly | Card present | Keyed | Stated conditions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| All-In | $0 per station | 2.79% + $0.20 | 3.79% + $0.20 | POS hardware included; "Processing minimums apply, 2yr minimum term" |
| POS Essentials | $55 per station | 2.45% + $0.15 (Amex 3.19% + $0.15) | 3.45% + $0.15 | Hardware priced separately, plus implementation costs; financing available |
| Build Your Own | Custom | Custom rates | Custom rates | For multi-unit, enterprise and high-volume operations |
A Core Bundle add-on is published at $50 a month plus 20 basis points of gross payment volume, capped at $200 per location, covering SpotOn's profitability analysis, online ordering, guest app and marketing tools. SpotOn's own FAQ sets out the arithmetic: monthly processing volume × 0.20%, up to $200, plus $50.
The separate small-business pricing page publishes SpotOn Terminal at $25 a month and Terminal + Loyalty at $90 a month, both with $240 of hardware and both on the 2.45% + $0.15 card-present rate, American Express at 3.19% + $0.15, and 3.45% + $0.15 keyed. Dual pricing and surcharge plans are offered on request and not priced.
Hardware prices, which most of this group does not publish
The restaurant pricing page lists device prices with a struck-through figure beside a lower one, on the date checked:
- Station 15 — $995, shown at $750 each
- Station 10 — $550, shown at $415 each
- Handheld — $495, shown at $297 each
- Guest-facing display — $200
- Wireless router — $300
How the $0 plan is actually paid for
SpotOn answers this on its own page: the All-In plan is described as designed to minimise upfront cost, with hardware and software paid for over time through a higher card-processing rate rather than as separate line items. The published gap against POS Essentials is 0.34 percentage points and $0.05 per transaction — 2.79% + $0.20 versus 2.45% + $0.15 — which is the arithmetic that decides between the two plans at your volume.
Where the two SpotOn pages disagree
Both of these were read on spoton.com on 17 September 2026, and they are recorded here as they stand, without any suggestion of wrongdoing — pricing pages and terms pages are maintained by different teams on most websites in this market.
- The restaurant pricing page attaches "Processing minimums apply, 2yr minimum term" to the All-In plan, and the plan FAQ repeats that a monthly processing minimum applies and that there is a minimum two-year term.
- The point-of-sale terms page states that the Restaurant POS and processing agreement is on a month-to-month contract that the merchant may cancel at any time, with cancellation requested by email or phone.
The rest of what the terms page publishes
- First-year hardware clawback. Cancelling within one year of installation requires payment of the difference between the initial purchase amount and the full list price of all hardware purchased. After a year, the terms state the equipment is yours and only notice is required.
- Changing processor while keeping the system. A $995 conversion fee applies, and software licence costs double. If you want the option of repricing processing later without replacing the tills, that is the published price of the option.
- What the monthly fee covers. Software licensing, updates and 24/7 support, deducted at the start of each month following the installation date.
What SpotOn does not publish
- The amount of the processing minimum on the All-In plan.
- Implementation and installation costs, which are stated to apply but not priced.
- An early termination amount for the two-year All-In term, as distinct from the first-year hardware clawback.
What to settle before signing
- Which term is on your order form — month to month, or two years — in writing.
- The monthly processing minimum in dollars, if you are taking All-In, and what happens in a month you fall short of it.
- The implementation fee, quoted per location.
- Whether the $995 conversion fee and doubled licence cost apply to your agreement, and in what circumstances.
How an independent agent's quote differs
We place the merchant account with a processor separately from the POS and name every component: interchange as the card networks publish it, network assessments, and our markup on its own line. That keeps the two decisions independent, so processing can be repriced in year two without touching the hardware. On some accounts a bundled plan still wins on total cost — the point is that you can check rather than assume. The free statement analysis prices the processing side against your own last three months.
